NaPoWriMo 2019 - Day 12

Hello Readers,

Welcome to Day 12 of my NaPoWriMo poetry writing challenge, where I'll be writing and posting a poem a day throughout April. Today's poem takes a terrifying turn from the rest, as this poem tells the story of a ghostly gallows tree. I hope you enjoy reading it.

Tonight They Rise

Under the gallows tree,
Where many have died,
A place where bark,
And bone collide,
Necks bent, torn, and twisted,
Hands bound tightly fisted,
Vultures circle to be fed,
Falling limp like broken bread,
Lives taken premature,
Roots blackened to the core,
Shrouded veils of white awaken,
Tonight they rise,
Avenging each soul taken.

Thanks for reading,
Louise.
