Napowrimo 2018 Day 5

Hello Readers,

Today is not only day 5 of my NaPoWriMo poetry writing challenge, but it's also the last year of my twenties. As I look back on my life so far, and on the wonders of the future that awaits, today's poem is based on the theme of memories, and remembering those who are no longer here to celebrate with us. I hope you enjoy reading this poem, as it was an emotional one to write.

Even though you can't be seen,
You'll always remain with me,
I think of days that have been,
Mulled over a cup of tea,
I thought of you today,
And like magic you appeared,
In winged form you flew away,
A crimson breast disappeared,
I miss your musical energy,
And the way you cooked,
Letting your box guitar free,
You were never overlooked,
For everyone you were there,
Lending out an ear,
Forever showing love and care,
And you loved your beer,
Many memories we have of you,
As you live within our love,
I know you're there when we feel blue,
Looking down from up above,
Memories are precious things,
We hold within our heart,
Great love and joy each brings,
When we find ourselves apart,
And I'll always remember,
Those days far gone,
You may have drifted into embers,
But, through memories you'll live on.

Thanks for reading, and sharing this special moment with me on my birthday :-)
