NaPoWriMo Day 28

Hello Readers,

Welcome to day 28 of my NaPoWriMo writing challenge.

Today's poem is called The Origin of Corruption.

Some say that money corrupts the soul,
But is that really true?
What if it's not the money,
And the corruption is in you?
What if a million or more was bestowed?
Would you use it all for good?
Or would it just go to waste?
Would it slowly poison your blood?
Being spent in selfish haste,
Does it all depend on the virtues?
For what the person would choose,
And if it really did corrupt their soul,
Could there be a win without the lose,
If you had a single choice,
Of being poor and happy,
Or rich and corrupt,
Which would you choose?
But, what if that money was used for good?
Would you still be a target of corruption?
Is it human nature at the core?
Or does it require something more?
Can the positive really exist,
Without the negative,
When both yin and yang are active,
As far as good and bad are concerned,
Can't money corrupt even when earned?
Does a big win really damn the soul,
Or is it part of human nature as a whole?
Money doesn't corrupt,
Unless corruption is embraced,
The true corruption,
Lies within the human race.

Thanks for reading,
Louise Lake.
