NaPoWriMo 2018 Day 20

Hello Readers,

Welcome to day 20 of my NaPoWriMo poetry writing challenge. Lately I've been thinking about life and death, and what it means to be mortal, today's poem is inspired by those thoughts with a touch of lighthearted comedy.

Mortality

Where did those days go?
Mortality slipped away,
Is death friend or foe?
Oh why can I not just stay?
Born to turn to ash,
After a short life that's lived,
Then it's time to dash,
And a soul that has been sieved,
I wish I was rich,
I'd buy immortality,
I'd become a witch,
So that I could live life free,
Never choose to die,
Certain to live forever,
Never say goodbye,
More powerful than weather,
Oh why does it end?
It's a vicious cruel joke,
Can't death be my friend?
I am not ready to croke!

Thanks for reading,
Louise.
