NaPoWriMo Day 9

Hello Readers,

Welcome to Day 9 of my NaPoWriMo writing challenge, where I will be writing and posting a new poem everyday for the whole of April!

Todays poem is called A Nameless Grave.

Whose is this grave by my side,
An undated nameless stone,
I'd like to know how they died,
Before decomposing to bone,
And, did they live a full life?
One of wondrous charm,
Is it a child, a man, or his wife?
How did they befall this harm?
In truth, this person might have been bad,
That's why the grave was never given a mark,
That would be rather sad,
As the headstone fades into the dark,
But, I like to think this person was good,
Maybe, they had no family,
Buried six feet deep in the mud,
Or, maybe they went down in history,
Becoming lost along the way,
As death appeared to set them free,
I guess there's nothing left to say,
As forever nameless this grave will be.

Thanks for reading,
Louise Lake.
