NaPoWriMo Day 4

Hello Readers,

Welcome to Day 4 of my NaPoWriMo writing challenge, where I will be writing and posting a new poem everyday for the whole of April!

Todays poem is called There Goes Time.

There goes time marching down the lane,
In constant action, never the same,
Sometimes, he slows his pace,
Yet he's too busy to remain.

Impatient as he passes by,
With no explanation why,
Injecting fear when time's run out,
But he will never lie.

He's measured by the lines of his face,
As seconds pass by in the race,
Leading minutes and hours into a chase,
A constant battle, not a moment to waste.

He ages yet remains forever young,
After the birth of every new born son,
An immortal presence unchanged,
He's not a slave to anyone.

He'll still be here when we're all gone,
His heartbeat ticking clear and strong,
A force that could never be stolen,
As he walks on, and on, and on.

Thanks for reading,
Louise Lake.
