NaPoWriMo Day 18

Hello Readers,

Welcome to day 18 of my NaPoWriMo writing challenge.

Todays poem is called See Me.

Are we not the same as you?
Do we not think,
And feel,
And breathe?
Do we not want to see our lives through?
Instead of being forced to take our leave,
Are we not as important as your race?
Why should we be bred just to die?
Are we just here for you're taste?
Whatever did we do wrong?
What's your reason why?
You catch us,
Snatch us,
And beat us,
When we can do and be so much,
You shoot us,
Stun us
And eat us,
When we only seek a gentle touch,
Bloody and huddled for the butchers,
Petrified squeals,
Going out of our mind,
Taking us from our cages and our hutches,
Would you do that to your own kind?
We want to be your friend,
Not your enemy,
Given shelter,
And care,
As your family,
We seek love,
Not hate,
I wish you'd see,
If only,
You could recognise,
The real me.

Thanks for reading,
Louise Lake.
